
In a radio interview with MoneyFM 89.3, colorectal surgeon Dr. Chok Aik Yong from Aelius Surgical Centre unpacked the hidden risks of meat-only diets. While such diets can deliver rapid weight loss, he explained that eliminating carbohydrates and fibre disrupts gut health, slows bowel movement and may elevate the risk of colorectal cancer. Dr Chok emphasised that the World Health Organization classifies processed and red meats as carcinogenic, urging moderation and fibre intake for long term digestive well being.
