Colorectal Surgeon and General Surgeon MBBS, MRCS (UK), MMed (Surg), FRCS (UK)

Dr Chok graduated with degrees in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the National University of Singapore. He was conferred the Master of Medicine (Surgery) in Edinburgh (UK) and a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, UK. He subsequently completed his specialist training in colorectal surgery and became a Fellow of the royal college of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2016.

Dr Chok was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award in 2019 to further advance his colorectal training at Royal Marsden Hospital, one of the top 5 cancer centres in the world. While in London, Dr Chok trained with pioneers in the surgical management of advanced colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and gained extensive experience while appraising the latest clinical and research evidence.

Dr Chok Aik Yong was elected Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh, UK) in recognition of his significant professional contributions to general surgery and colorectal surgery. Before this, he won the Outstanding Faculty Award during his Residency Programme with Singhealth. Subsequently, he was awarded Service Quality Award for his outstanding service patients. He was then awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Scholarship to advance his clinical fellowship.

He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Singhealth Duke-NUS Oncology Academic Clinical Programme.

Dr Chok’s expertise lies in managing colorectal diseases, particularly advanced colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. He is also proficient in the treatment of surgical conditions such as hernia, haemorrhoids, anal fistula and bowel disorders. Dr Chok has a special interest in minimally invasive and robotic colorectal surgery as well as colonoscopy and polypectomy.

Dr Chok Aik Yong is prolific in scientific research and has authored and co-authored more than 40 scientific publications in renowned medical journals, and is an active member of the international PelvEx Collaborative. He was also an appointed reviewer for the British Journal of Surgery and Annals by Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

He is regularly invited to present as a faculty speaker at international scientific conferences held across the world.

Dr Chok is not only passionate about providing excellent healthcare services to his patients but also about leading a healthy lifestyle. He is an avid runner and enjoys running in the bustling streets of Singapore city. He also enjoys spending quality time with his family whenever he can.
